5 Ways Volunteering Pays

Our volunteers are the nutrients helping students grow.

If Byte Back is the gardener and our students are the garden, then our volunteers are the nutrients helping everyone grow. Whether you choose to volunteer as an instructorteaching assistant, or tutor, giving back to the community is such a rewarding experience! Our volunteers and staff explain just how important the work is and how volunteering can actually pay off:

Reason #1

“Volunteering is the most effective means to give back to your community and to continue to develop the human spirit.” – Ted Frazier, Volunteer Instructor

Reason #2

“[Teaching PC for Beginners,] I saw that there is a digital divide. It’s for real; it’s not just a catchphrase.” – Michael Johnson, Volunteer Instructor, on the work still to be done to help bridge the digital divide.

Reason #3

“If you’re not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you’re determined, no one can stop you.” – Kristopher Allen, Volunteer Instructor, on his belief in Byte Back students.

Reason #4

“Sometimes it takes a village to help you reach your goals.” – Tamikia Wims, Byte Back’s new Volunteer Coordinator, on the value of volunteering.

Reason #5

“What [volunteers] do is such a gift. Byte Back wouldn’t be Byte Back without you.” – Kelley Ellsworth, former Executive Director

Our community can only thrive when we’re all thriving. Whether you are a past student or an IT professional, we welcome you to join us as a community volunteer at Byte Back! See more here or email volunteer@byteback.org to join us now!
