In spring 2020, Byte Back is launching virtual classes for Washington, DC and Baltimore residents. We know it’s important for YOU to keep learning, even from home. Get info on these pages and fill out an interest form to start your journey to a new computer-based career!

Byte Back’s FREE training pathway can take you from any skill level to a living-wage career working with tech. Whether you need to start with using a mouse and typing or are ready to dive in to advanced IT topics, we have a class that can help you accomplish your goals!

1. Which level of the pathway is right for me?

The Byte Back pathway is designed for adult learners at all levels. Start at the right level for you and move up!

1. Little or no computer experience?
Enroll in Computer Foundations 1. You’ll learn fundamentals, such as how to turn on a computer, type, search the internet, and send email.

2. Know the basics and want to learn more?
Check out Computer Foundations 2, which introduces you to Microsoft Office. Before taking this class, you should have basic computer skills and be able to use email.

3. Ready for advanced skills and a career in admin or IT?
Check out our Professional Tracks. You will earn multiple industry-recognized certifications from Microsoft and CompTIA to get you ready for a living-wage career using technology.

2. Will Byte Back help me find a career?

Career Skills are built into the pathway at every step, from the classroom to one-on-one coaching to events like the Tech Tour at Capitol One in this video. Here are a few ways we’ll help you launch your career:

Byte Back students work on computer hardware.

Byte Back graduates go on to work in a variety of careers that use technology.

IT Professional Track graduates find careers as Computer User Support Specialists and IT Help Desk.

Those who earn Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in the Administrative Professional Track find office jobs in administration, communications, and business.

5. Where are the classes and when do they start?

Classes are taught at Byte Back offices and partner locations in Washington, DC, Prince George’s County, MD, and Baltimore, MD. We offer all classes multiple times per year at various locations. Class schedules and locations are dependent on demand, funding, and other factors.

The best way to stay up to date on class availability is to fill out an interest form for the class you’re interested in – we’ll send you a text or email when classes are available. You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook, where we post information about class registration as it becomes available. .

6. Who can apply?

  • Adults (18 years or older)
  • Residents in Byte Back’s service areas
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Desire to increase skills to find employment

Students must meet all course requirements, including passing assessments and in-person interviews to enroll in Computer Foundations 2 and Professional Tracks.

7. How do I apply?

Once you’ve found the class level that you think is right for you, simply fill out the interest form at the bottom of that page. When we have openings for that class, we’ll send you an email with information about how to apply.

The application process differs based on class – find out more about application requirements under the “Prerequisites” section of the class you’re interested in.
