Precious & Her Class Are Going Strong with Virtual Learning during Coronavirus

Byte Back Certification Students Went Virtual March 18

Since pausing in-person classes because of coronavirus, Byte Back certification students have continued class from home through Zoom.

38% of Byte Back students don’t have internet at home. Byte Back saw this need and sent certification students home with hotspots and laptops if they needed them.

Our students are working hard now to gain digital skills – skills that can get them stable computer-based careers that they can even do at home. During the time of coronavirus, the value in these career paths is amplified even more.

Precious, a Microsoft Office Specialist, Excel student, with her kids – Kyla, 8, and Layla 18 months. She’s currently taking care of her family while taking class from home.

Precious, who is currently studying for her Microsoft Office Specialist, Excel certification,  is one of these students. “Going to school for tech, for any tech classes, is definitely beneficial, especially right now,” Precious says. She’s aiming for an administrative career in an office, where she would have the flexibility to telework.

After the first week of virtual class, Precious was struggling to keep up at home while taking care of an 18-month-old and an 8-year-old. But she did it! “Once I was finished and completed the lessons, I was like, YES I can do this,” she says.

The digital divide is hitting our communities hard during this crisis. And students like Precious need your support.

If you’re still working right now, please consider making a small gift to support Byte Back students training at home.
