A native Washingtonian, Melissa has over 11 years of experience in program management and community-based economic development. Most recently, as senior director, program at Per Scholas, she helped connect curious and motivated individuals in low-income communities to employers. Prior to that, Melissa served as the manager of workforce development at Goodwill of Greater Washington, where she led multiple projects, most notably a $2 million grant through which over 700 DC residents were trained and placed in employment opportunities. Melissa also previously worked for the Department of Employment Services in Washington, DC and other local nonprofits.
In 2019, Melissa completed the American Express Leadership Academy which was offered in partnership with the Center for Creative Leadership. Outside of work, Melissa serves as a mentor, and is proud of her two mentees who are currently thriving in the tech sector. She holds a BA in Psychology and Masters in Public Health.
When she isn’t helping people advance in their careers, you can find Melissa at the gym working towards her fitness goals, reading, or relaxing with her family while watching reruns of Game of Thrones.
