Joy Farmer

Program Manager - DC

Joy joined Byte Back in April 2021 on a temporary assignment and stayed.  She had moved to DC seeking work that would advance social justice and involve helping people – in this country or abroad – and found it at Byte Back.  She has transitioned through several roles in her time here, assisting with admissions, serving as temporary executive assistant and working in grants reporting and compliance.  She is excited to now be moving into program management.  Joy’s interests are both domestic and international.  She has a BA from Stanford University in International Relations, and an MA from UCLA in Political Science, focusing on the Middle East.  Her experience includes work in voting rights at the US Department of Justice, enrollment, outreach and education for the Affordable Care Act, and study and research in several Middle Eastern countries.

Outside of work, Joy enjoys running, walking and biking through DC, exploring international grocery stores, and surfing Craigslist for free furniture finds.  She speaks Arabic and some French.
