Historically, and to this day, women are underrepresented in the tech industry. There are consistently fewer girls and women who study STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Tech education and careers may seem out of reach for many women because of ingrained gender stereotypes and a lack of opportunities offered to women.
For Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting the work we do with 54 percent of our student body. We’re bringing tech within reach of more than 500 women per year, some of whom learn to use computers for the first time and others who pursue advanced IT certifications.
Byte Back is striving to do our part to introduce more underserved women, mostly women of color, to careers in tech and to increase diversity in IT right here in Washington.
